Lying at the foot of the Orlické Mountains, at an elevation of 520 – 570 m, is the village of Česká Čermná, surrounded by thick woods. The well kept timbered cottages, the natural reserve, “Louky“ (Meadows) abounding in protected plants, and last but not the least, a pretty gamekeeper‘s lodge, built in the style of a prominent Czech architect, Dušan Jurkovič, are points worth a visit. You can also use the border crossing Brzozowie and visit Poland. Services are of a high standard, and there is a lot you can do in the sports centre. People in the village keep folk traditions, hold a carnival, Easter customs, a village fair and a f?te. They are also rightly proud of Václav Černý, a prominent literary critic and philosopher, Professor at Charles University in Prague, who was born here. And when you find yourself standing on the edge of the woods, near the rock above Česká Čermná, try to listen and discern the sound of hammers in the distance. Up to the present day, there is still a golden spring guarded by the Elf of the Golden Rock and his friends, with beards down to their waists. And, what is more, the Elf is the village patron.cermna
